Letter of recommendation [manuscript] : Washington, D.C., to James Buchanan, 1860 June 13.

In this letter of recommendation, Hemphill urges the appointment of George Blow as U.S. District Attorney. Telling Buchanan that he has known Blow for some time since serving together in San Antonio, Texas, Hemphill describes Blow as a "pure, honorable, and estimable gentleman."
